Camp Mariposa – Southwest Washington

Helping children and teens build resilience, find connection, and discover hope.

Camp Mariposa – Southwest Washington is a free, year-round mentoring and prevention program for children and teens affected by a family member's substance use disorder.

Hosted by Arlene’s Angels: Hand in Paw Healing, in partnership with Eluna, Camp Mariposa provides a welcoming, supportive environment where young people can build meaningful relationships, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen resilience, and connect with peers who understand their experiences.

Through engaging activities, supportive mentorship, and age-appropriate education, participants are encouraged to recognize their strengths and develop skills that promote lifelong well-being.

Camp Mariposa – Southwest Washington is part of Eluna’s national Camp Mariposa network. For more information, please visit elunanetwork.org.

Our Day Camp Programs

We offer two age-specific programs designed to meet the developmental needs of children and adolescents.

All Camp Mariposa programs are offered at no cost to participating children, teens, and families.

Youth Day Camp | Ages 9–12

Our Youth Day Camp provides a safe, welcoming space where children can build friendships, explore their emotions, strengthen coping skills, and develop confidence through creative activities, recreation, and supportive mentorship.

Teen Day Camp | Ages 13–17

Our Teen Day Camp provides opportunities for adolescents to connect with peers, strengthen resilience, practice healthy decision-making, develop leadership skills, and receive support from caring adult mentors.

Who Can Participate?

Camp Mariposa serves children and teens ages 9–17 who have been affected by a family member's substance use disorder.

Families from Southwest Washington and the surrounding Oregon communities are welcome to inquire about eligibility and enrollment.

Participants do not need to have a substance use disorder themselves to be considered for the program.

Camp Dates and Transportation

Camp Mariposa – Southwest Washington is launching a day camp model, with the goal of offering regular camp experiences and year-round opportunities for connection.

Upcoming Camp Dates

To be announced.

Transportation

Families should plan to arrange transportation to and from camp unless alternative arrangements are confirmed by the program team.

For the safety and privacy of participants, specific camp locations are shared directly with enrolled families.

Become a Camp Mariposa Mentor

Make a meaningful difference in a young person's life!

Camp Mariposa mentors are caring adults who help create a supportive, encouraging environment for children and teens impacted by family substance use.

Mentors support camp activities, encourage healthy relationships, model positive coping skills, and help participants feel safe, valued, and connected.

Volunteer mentors must complete the required screening, training, and onboarding process before participating.
